A sundog is a weather phenomenon and is a signal that a change is coming. Its true name is parahelion, from the Greek meaning "beside the sun". A sundog looks like a miniature rainbow near the sun (22^o away), at the same level as the sun. It can appear on one or both sides of the sun. It only occurs under certain conditions, and when ice crystals in clouds are aligned in an exact and precise way.

In yoga, the sun is an ancient and powerful symbol of life, energy, and creative force. As we practice yoga with precision and energy, we, too, become true reflections of the divine spark within us - just as a sundog reflects its true source.
